■ The “Joban Line” DLC has been released (Aug. 30th )
On August 29th the Joban line DLC was released.
The Joban line is the longest among the JR lines that don’t have “Main line” in its name; starting in Tokyo’s Taito ward, Ueno station, it runs through Chiba, Ibaraki, Fukushima prefectures, to arrive in Miyagi prefecture’s Sendai station (Sendai city).
Initially, the Joban line departed and arrived at Ueno station but since the Ueno-Tokyo line started service on March 14th , 2015, some of the trains started also running the section between Shinagawa and Ueno stations. In this DLC, you will be able to operate both the Ueno-Tokyo line between Shinagawa and Ueno, and the Joban line between Ueno and Katsuta.
As one of its peculiarities, partway through the line there is a change in the electric grid; between the stations of Toride and Fujishiro, the current switches from direct to alternating, creating a “dead section”. (Shinagawa~Toride sta.: direct current 1500V, Fujishiro~Sendai sta.: alternating current 20000V)
Another major feature of this line is that it reaches JR’s conventional lines top speed of 130Km/h.
The first half shows the scenery change from the offices of central Tokyo to its suburbs. The latter half runs through the peaceful and verdant scenery of Ibaraki prefecture.
You will be able to enjoy different sceneries while driving on this over 2 hours long route.
